Psalms, 124

1. [Song of Ascents Of David] If Yahweh had not been on our side -- let Israel repeat it-

2. if Yahweh had not been on our side when people attacked us,

3. they would have swallowed us alive in the heat of their anger.

4. Then water was washing us away, a torrent running right over us;

5. running right over us then were turbulent waters.

6. Blessed be Yahweh for not letting us fall a prey to their teeth!

7. We escaped like a bird from the fowlers' net. The net was broken and we escaped;

8. our help is in the name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:8: "The Lord will keep your departure and your entrance from now on and forever." This verse affirms God's protection over the children of Israel in all their journeys, both in their exits and in their entries.

Psalm 125:2: "Just as they are around Jerusalem the hills, so the Lord has been around his people from now on and forever." This verse compares God's protection around his people to the mountainous landscape of Jerusalem around them.

Psalm 118:13: "They pushed me hard to knock me down, but the Lord helped me." This verse talks about the help God offers in times of danger and adversity when enemies try to overthrow the psalmist.

Psalm 91:11: "For his angels shall give order to you to keep you in all your ways." This verse talks about God's angelic protection over those who fear and love Him.

Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and fortress, well-present help in anguish." This verse affirms God's protection as an unshakable fortress that offers refuge in times of necessity and anguish.
